The Towing Program is a special case of the Assist Program. In this program the assist force is not limited to 10 lbs on the assist force slider but allows the force to be set to levels as high as 40 lbs. Extra care should be used when using this program. The large forces that can be generated on the tension line could cause injury if it becomes wrapped around any body part. This program is intended for testing underwater streamlining speeds to determine the best posture for maintaining speed after the push off and before breakout. Sample Towing Test Swimmer swims out at a nominal speed to far end of pool and prepares for a high speed underwater tow. When ready, the swimmer pushes off and assumes an underwater streamline posture while being towed at high speed to the start position. Higher speeds for a given force indicate lower drag and a better posture for maintaining speed after the push-off. |
